My day job is a senior practitioner and child and young person’s therapist for RISE, a local domestic abuse charity in Brighton.
At the beginning of Lockdown #1 in 2020 I wrote and self-published a book called My Friend Betty for children to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to provide a way into conversations for children who may have experienced it.
My Friend Betty is a book about two friends who live next door to each other. Betty has a worry that she hasn’t spoken about. She confides in Mary who helps Betty find hope through the challenges she’s facing.
I hope the book will start conversations about domestic abuse which remain unsaid.
